The Practicality of Plastic Storage Sheds

You don’t have to be someone who loves gardening to think about getting a shed for your garden. For me, it is essential. The thought of walking to the garage every single time I need a piece of equipment to take a weed out can be a real mission. When I’m having a barbeque it can be a big deal running in and out the house, scratching around in the kitchen cupboards for the barbeque tongs. This is where a shed comes to good use.

I find that I can combine a lot of things in here to make it practical. I have a Rubbermaid plastic storage shed in my garden, which has space for shelves and I have arranged my basic gardening equipment to one side and my kids accessories that they need when they want to take a dip in the pool. Arm bands and costumes go to one side. I have a big shed, but Rubbermaid as well as a couple of other companies like Suncast and Tuff have come up with some of the latest designs so you can just place a box-like structure on your deck and there you can put what you want in there.

Plastic is not the thing I would have gone for a couple of years ago, but like me, more and more people are going this way. It is just more practical. My mom would say that it is easier to clean. All you need is a hosepipe and sometimes a damp cloth, but whilst cleaning is still high up on the agenda, it is not the only thing that is important here. The budget also comes into play and there is the long lasting factor which for me is probably the most important thing. When one refers to plastic, the word, durability does not normally come into play, but these sheds have been designed so that they dont crack or peel in extreme weather conditions. If you have a look at a wooden shed, you will find that it is very appealing to the eye at first, but after a couple of months you will really regret your buy. It doesn’t matter where you live, the fact is that wood rots. Termites help with this.

Lately, I have found space in my shed for my patio cushions. A lot of people will buy a deck box and park it on their patio just for this purpose. If you think of the hassle of taking the cushions inside every night so they don’t get ruined or land in the pool it sometimes just drives you crazy and this is where a box like this comes to good use. I like that fact that everything is right there. Rubbermaid and Suncast are the leaders in the pack once again, but there are some up and coming companies which are producing some very nice looking and functional sheds for different purposes. People not only use these sheds for domestic purposes, but the old wooden shed used on farms for storing away the tractor is also something that is being replaced for the more modern plastic version.
