The world is full of people who are unhappy with their body and who want to alter their appearance in some way. Starting a new diet to lose a bit of weight or joining a gym to tone up your body are two of the most popular choices but, for some, these are not quick enough or take too much effort – they don’t want to change their lifestyle to commit to several months of hard work. For these people, cosmetic surgery has often been the favoured solution.
While it may seem like the easy way to solve their problems, cosmetic surgery can be quite a big step for some to take. Undergoing any surgical procedure involves taking some pretty substantial risks – whether it’s a reaction to the anaesthetic that is used, an unforeseen complication that arises during the operation, or an infection that sets into the wound as it heals – there are many things that can go wrong. To overcome the fears and concerns of many prospective patients, the cosmetic surgery industry has tried to develop alternatives to their traditional treatments that give the same great results but without the need for invasive surgery.
Take liposuction or liposculpture, for example. For years these have been the procedures that many have chosen to rid themselves of excessive body fat and to tone up specific areas of their body. It’s quite a gruesome procedure that involves being sedated so that a surgeon can make an incision through which fat can be suctioned out of the body. The procedure sometimes requires the patient to stay in the hospital or clinic overnight, and in all cases they will be expected to take things easy for the following couple of weeks while they recover.
While these treatments have undoubtedly been very popular over the years, the industry recognised that they could dramatically increase their customer base if they could come up with a method that would give the same great results, but without the drawbacks of having to commit to surgery. By incorporating new technologies they were able to develop a non invasive technique, and non surgical liposuction was born.
Using a heat producing laser the surgeon is able to melt or dissolve the layer of fat through the patient’s skin, and that liquefied fat is then passed as natural waste from the body. The process is entirely painless and involves no incisions being made into the body, so no anaesthetic is required. This means that the recovery time is minimal, and patients are able to get back to their daily routine within the hour. Sometimes a little blistering or tenderness can be experienced along the area treated, but this usually passes within a couple of days.
Non surgical liposuction can still be relatively expensive, but as the procedure has been simplified to such a degree it should always be far less expensive than the surgical alternative. It has become incredibly popular in recent years with many patients finding it worth the expense, as they realise that there is no easier way to rid themselves of excess fat and tone their body.
