Are you in the market for a personal vending mini-fridge for your games room or bedroom? If you are then you should consider a Coca-Cola cooler from Koolatron. They manufacture a number of licensed Cola can coolers in various capacities ranging from six to twenty five cans. All of them come with the Coke logo branding – and of course in the color red.
The largest beverage dispenser they so is the Koolatron KWC-25 cooler which holds 25 soda cans. Read on for full details and a independent Koolatron KWC-25 Fridge Review including all the pros and cons should you decide you want to purchase.
Makes Too Much Noise and the Light is Too Bright
The first aspect to the Koolatron KWC-25 review highlights some negative aspects. It comes with two separate operating modes – standard and quiet. The reason is has a quiet mode is due to the fact that it is so noisy. As far as vending fridges go it’s certainly one of the more vocal on the market so you will need to switch the mode when you try to go to sleep.
In addition to that is has a very bright blue LED display which has the annoying habit of lighting up a dark room at night – so you will need to cover that if you have it in your bedroom at night and want to get to sleep.
Condensation Issues in the Water Tray
The second major draw-back to the Koolatron Coca-Cola cooler is the water accumulation that can occur on the bottom tray. At least once a month you will need to remove the drip tray to get rid of excess water caused by condensation. The reason this happens is down to the poor design quality and in particular how the fan works. Make sure that the rear fan is never obstructed as this can lead to over-heating and has the potential for a motor burn-out if too much dust and debris gets trapped in the grille.
Positive Aspects to the Coca-Cola Vending Fridge
It’s not all bad news though, because the Koolatron KWC-25 mini-fridge does also have some favorable functions. It will happily keep 25 soda cans cool no matter what the room temperature and does look very retro. In fact you could imagine this being on the counter in a 1960’s all-American cafe diner. So for a conversation piece and a cool-looking piece of retro furniture if gets the thumbs-up. You can grab yourself a very cold can of Coke whenever you want – but only buy this vending fridge if you value style over substance.
Without a doubt the condensation and noise problems do mean this will never get ranked as one of the best beverage dispenser fridges available and it’s quite likely it won’t stand the test of time in a bedroom or games room. It looks very cool, but outside of that you might be better looking at rival compact refrigerators – many of which will also be a lot cheaper.
Want Something Smaller & Cheaper?
Perhaps the KWC-25 is too large, or you don’t want to buy it after reading this review. It retails at around $160 US Dollars, but there is a better-rated and smaller model available should you want a Small Coca-Cola Vending Fridge instead. A recommended alternative would be the Koolatron CVF18 which holds just 10 cans – but it does have better consumer reviews and a far lower price point at around $140 US Dollars instead. The CVF18 can also hold small food items making it an ideal solution as a dorm fridge or for someone who wants a small refrigerator in their bedroom or garage.
